If you would like to receive Judy's newsletter by email, please submit the information below. October 2007 Newsletter This and That The past month has been a whirlwind of activity. I attended the American Christian Fiction Writers Convention in Dallas and it was great. I’ve been to conventions for writers before and this one ranks at the top of my let’s-do-it-again list. It was fun, informative, inspirational and motivating. I met James Scott Bell, Deeanne Gist, Merilee Ferrell, Colleen Coble and many more authors. And I visited with old friends, DiAnn Mills and Barbara Oden, plus made new friends that I look forward to keeping in touch with. I hooked up with four authors writing Christian mystery and suspense and we formed an online critique group to help each other with our writing. I’m taking two online classes for writers this month and I’m continuing with an on-going writer’s course through the Christian Writers Guild.
But none of that was the best part of the month. The highlight of the month was the adoption of my thirteen-year-old grandson, Alex. He has been part of our family for ten years, but due to a number of circumstances, his adoption did not become final until this past month. It was a beautiful, God-filled moment and it inspired an article of devotion to God. See my devotional page.
I’ve been working long hours on my current work-in-progress, Code. . . Alas, while keeping up with classes I’m taking. I’m about halfway through the first draft and am working from a detailed outline completed in August. I will be looking for readers to preview the book, sometime in early December, getting feedback from them. If interested in being a reader, please let me know.
Life on the ranch
is as eventful as ever. We held an old-fashioned barbeque to celebrate Alex’s
adoption. We had some of the best brisket and BBQ chicken around.
New Author I’d like to introduce you to a new author, Miralee Ferrell. Her first novel was released this month. It is a must-read and is already hitting the top of the charts for Christian Book Distributors. (http://www.christianbook.com) I met Miralee at the convention I attended last month in Dallas and she is a wonderful person and gifted author. Her new book is titled The Other Daughter. You can order it from Christian Book Distributors and you can visit her web site at http://www.miraleeferrell.com Book Review When the Nile Runs Red
by DiAnn Mills DiAnn Mills has written a book filled with larger-than-life characters caught up in the civil war in Sudan. She weaves the story of three friends who face constant danger as they work to bring relief to the weary southern Sudanese.
